DVF | Work Wear

What better to do on a slow Wednesday than shop online? I always find it ridiculously difficult to find appropriate clothing for work that I can still wear with pride. I don't always want to be wearing black and white or anything frumpy and ill-fitted. Thanks to Diane Von Furstenberg.. I can have all of the fabulous work wear in the world for a pretty penny (:

Drake Street

In the pursuit of my dream home - affordable dream home that is - I have found some stunning condos, townhouses and mega mansions. Most of them I have been able to by pass (because of their sheer size and impracticality for my student loan bearing self) however, this penthouse is exactly everything that I have ever dreamed of. Two stories, infinity pool and a staircase that would make any princess, well.. feel like a queen. I think I'm in love.. and because it can't be mine.. as my budget is one tenth of the price of this house.. I thought I'd share it. This beauty sits in the heart of Vancouver, BC on Drake Street at a solid 6.1 million.

Love

"You can't manufacture love it doesn't come prepackaged and sealed with an expiration date"
- Tyler Shields

This has to be the best thing I have heard in a while.. when we get lonely.. we forget these things but this is the perfect little reminder. What a cute way to start off the day :)

Student Loan Debt?

I like to mull through the news daily and a lot of it is pretty depressing as the worlds' state of affairs seem to be pretty sad. However, this brightened up my day pretty quickly as I am a student with a pretty decent amount of student loan debt. So this guy.. goes to the bank - over a few days of course - and withdraws his entire student loan payment ($114,460 to be exact) because he thought it would be a funny way to pay his debt off.

Alex Kenjeev, who is a 2009 law graduate from the University of Toronto created quite a ruckus at the Scotiabank he deposited the cash at. Good job man, it was definitely a good laugh!

Loden Hotel | Vancouver, BC

A dear friend took me out to dinner this past weekend at the Loden Hotel. The views from the hotel are magnificent, the service is amazing and its is the best way to enjoy luxury in Vancouver, BC. The hotel lobby was so eloquently organized, the rooms look bright and spacious and the patio had to be the best part. I'm almost even thinking about having my birthday party here! I am super impressed and I might even try to sneak a weekend (tourist in your own city type thing) in sometime in the near future - just so I can stay at this hotel.

Hint of Rose

This tart looks delicious! In addition to being so yummy looking.. it is divine and spiced up with a hint of rose and delicious almonds in the crust.. couldn't ask for more from a summer dessert :)

Billion Dollar Girl

I feel like this.. everyday. Now only if life were truly like this.. but anyway for a slow and groggy Monday.. Tamara Ecclestone pulls off this look magnificently (especially for an heiress); you go girl!

Kardashian Sisters

Alright, so I've already had a Kim K post and this might be old news to you but I look to these three ladies as inspiration. I know lately (or always) people have said that they are not role models or that they have no claim to fame. I beg to differ.

I think these women are inspirational and are wonderful role models for young ladies. Why? Well despite Kim's entry into the spotlight.. she took the responsible road.. and apologized. Not only did she apologize but she made it a point to tell young ladies out there that they should not follow in her footsteps.

In comparison to her other counter parts *ahem* Paris Hilton.. Kim has turned around her misfortune (or not) and created a multi-million dollar business out of it. What did Paris do? Party. Great.

Create yourself

When it comes to celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Jay-Z and yes even Beyonce.. they are all self made (yes, hate all you want). Each one of these individuals has had a unique past and a unique way of creating a bright and successful future for themselves.

I think this picture really says it all doesn't it? Those who work the hardest reap the biggest benefits.. right? And as much as people claim that this life is "too short" to spend it working all the time.. I think that life is long enough to spend your youth working and your later years enjoying the benefits of early success.

To all those who figure it out young... congratulations and I wish you all the best in the future dolls :)

Tyler Shields

Tyler Shields is a photographer who recently gained attention (mostly negative) for photos with his girlfriend Francesca Eastwood (who just so happens to be Clint Eastwood's daughter). The photos mostly involved destroying a red alligator Birkin which retails for over $100,000.. the two were subject to criticism from every sort of agency under the sun (and people who just like to talk). In all honesty though.. I must say.. they bought the bag.. whether she wants to carry it, take a chain saw to it or burn it to a crisp.. I really think that's their decision. Why does EVERYONE care so much? About what somebody else decides to do with their hard-earned (or not so hard-earned) money... just saying.

Regardless, the man has some skills... his photography is fantastic and has a dark and twisted sense of life and possibly humor :)

Germany v. Greece - Euro Cup

I have always been a soccer fan and I just found this fascinating. Tensions are increasing in Europe between countries as the financial crisis deepens and these sentiments are spilling over on to the soccer field. Is this reasonable? I mean we are all aware of the result of increasing tensions between European countries.. and nationalism is being scrutinized (and sort of banned) on the soccer field. Can we separate racism, nationalism and the experience of Euro Cup? Part of the Euro Cup and World Cup is nationalism.. is it fair to ask people to separate the two?

Rachel Zoe

Living in Canada has its pros and cons in terms of fashion and availability of brands. Myself, being a recessionista.. have found that is easy to find very similar items to those big ticket items that I would love to own. There are a few brands that I can't live without though.. so I find myself ordering them from Saks, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.. who all ship to Canada now (and you can shop in CAD) which is fabulous. I have always loved Rachel Zoe.. I look to her for style inspiration and lifestyle inspiration. She lives and dress absolutely divinely and I cannot get enough. It is the same way with her collection.. I can't live without the clothes that she designs!

Take-over.

This song reminds me of a lot of things.. people, circumstances and experiences in my life. I feel as if there are people who know they are different and know that there is something bigger and better out there for them. These people are not your average person. They do not get a 9-5.. they do not necessarily get an education and they don't listen or bow down to anyone. The drive to succeed comes from within.. it doesn't necessarily come from attending a highly rated school or from working an "entry-level" job which pays squat. The drive to "work up" is not the drive that I am talking about.. I'm talking about the drive to conquer territory that most people don't have. Be different, be yourself and always be strong.

something new & something old

So, I have been meaning to do this for a while for many reasons. Although I love the idea of sharing my thoughts, ideas and life with those who share similar views.. I have been putting this off for some time. This is not because I lack motivation or because I am unable to convey myself to others in a confident manner but because I do not have the amount of time I once did. This place is for me to organize my ideas and clear my head. I enjoy a rather large array of things on which I would like to write on a daily basis and these can include fashion, style, architecture and current events. I write this as a way to remind myself of my thought process as opposed to gaining any sort of attention but if you enjoy this blog then please do share your thoughts :). Over the years I've found myself losing myself and finding myself (only to find someone different) and I have kind of become a serious recessionista. My "see it and have it now" attitude had disappeared and I try to find peace in things that don't cost me an arm and a leg *cough*alexandermqueen*cough*.  It's nice to write and share; it really is.

P.S. Don't we all wish we could be super model moms? Rose Huntington- Whiteley looks amazing. One can dream!
